Tea Swap part deux

Sometime a go I post about a Tea Swap that I took part in, on PCP, here is the original post. I posted a photo of the swap that I received but had forgotten to take a photo of the swap that I sent. I had promised that I would post a photo once I got one.

Here it is;

I got the idea, template and instruction from Doreen Tremble but I did change it a little as I made it into a 3D pot where I could put the tea into the pot!  I used Pink Petticoat digital paper for the pot and inked the edges with distressed ink.

I wrapped the tea bags in parchment paper and then in designer paper and added a label telling the recipient what type of tea is included and inserted them into the pot.

Paper: Pink Pettioat, DCWV - Hippie Chic
Ink: Ranger Distressed ink - Broken China
Embellishments: Pearls, stash

I won something........ yeah!

I don't enter many challenges, as I make my cards first and then look for challenges but can never find one to suit the card I had just finished. Over on Paper Craft Planet in the "Anything Goes Discussion Bord" they have a monthly challenge and each month I say "I must enter this challenge" but for whatever reason I never do.  Last month they had a Black and White Card challenge and the day before the cut off point I got a chance to make a card and entered it, then to my great surprise I won the challenge.  I could not believe it, as I have never won a challenge like it before, I was so excited. Here is the finished card.

I mounted a Pink Petticoat download backing paper onto some black metallic card stock. The backing paper was looking a little "flat" so I went over the "doodles" with some Sukara Glaze just lift it a little. The image was a freebie from Create with Tlc I printed it onto photo paper and cut it along its black border than mounted it onto white linen effect card. I added a black organza ribbon before mounting the image at an angle onto the card.

Cardstock: DCWV - Hippie Chic
White Cardstock - stash
Backing Paper: Pink Petticoat - Doodleicious Rainbow 2

Ribbon: Anita's everyday ribbon
Colouring Medium: Sukara Glaze

Something I'll not be able to do for another 4 years......

......write a blog post on the 29th February. HaHa.

Happy Leap Day to all.

There are lots of traditions surrounding the 29th of Feb, mostly regarding women asking their man to marry them. Here is an Irish tale,

Legend has it that St. Brigid of Kildare, a fifth-century Irish nun, asked St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, to grant permission for women to propose marriage after hearing complaints from single women whose suitors were too shy to propose. Initially, he granted women permission to propose only once every seven years, but at Brigid's insistence, he acquiesced and allowed proposals every leap day. The folk tale suggests that Brigid then dropped to a knee and proposed to Patrick that instant, but he refused, kissing her on the cheek and offering a silk gown to soften the blow. The Irish tradition therefore dictates that any man refusing a woman's leap-day proposal must give her a silk gown. From Huffpost Weddings
I suppose it is appropriate that the Irish tradition included both St Brigid whose feast day is in Feb and St Patrick whose feast day is in March.  Huffpost Weddings also writes about other leap year wedding traditions.

Yesterday was my niece's birthday, time is flying, it seem only like 5 years ago when I was changing her nappies etc, but it was 23 years ago. :0
Even if I say so myself, she has turned into a lovely woman. Of course her parents are to be responsible for that, I was just passed through her life every-so-often. lol
Here is the card I made for her. The photo is not the best, I know I have said this before but I must organise a light box for taking photos in all weathers and at any time.
The card itself was meant to be much simpler that it turned out. I had an accident, while stamping the sentiment there was a tiny blob of ink on one corner of the block, (stamp was acrylic and I had to mount it on a block) and when I stamped the sentiment, I accidental marked the top of the card. :(  To cover that up I had to add the blue ribbon on top then to finish it off I added the "bling", the little gems.

I embossed the bottom 1/3 of the card using Swiss dots Cuttlebug embossing folder.  The "present" is just a square of metallic card embossed with another cuttlebug embossing folder.  I add the ribbon and bow to look like a wrapped gift.  The sentiment was then stamped straight on to the card. It is hard to see in the photo but there is another ribbon just above the "swiss dots".

I printed out the inside sentiment onto ordinary cardstock and used nestibilities labels 4 to cut it out, this sentiment is a freebie from Create with TLC.

Ribbon: Local haberdasheries.

What happened to Summer.....

And I don't just mean about the weather but the last 8 weeks? Sonny got his summer hols from school at the end of June, a whole summer of free time spread out before us and now it is all, but gone. This time next week he will have finished his second day of school. Boo Hoo! It means back to getting up earlier, making lunch, then homework after school and getting him to go to bed ON TIME. That's enough about the future, what have I being up to over the summer, in a nut shell  not-a-lot.
Hubby and I did get to go to visit my sister and family in England. They were having a party and we popped over for a few days. One of the reasons for the party was to celebrate their move into a new house, just over a year ago.  Their new home is just so picturesque.  It is a type of house you can only get in England, a small cottage built centuries ago. It is so quirky inside, all the ceiling heights are different and the stairs is enclosed in a cupboard and very low. But beautiful. The garden there, is out of this world. The whole setting reminds me of a setting in "Midsummer Murders" or an "Inspector Poirot" film.
Here is a photo of the house, I just love it!

I love my sister and BIL very much but I was kind of wondering whether or not they really wanted us there at all, for this is where we slept. Yes, outside in the shed!

But to be honest, it was nicely decorated and we even had our own lounge area with couch and coffee table.

It became know as the Beach House or the Honeymoon Suite!

I, naturally, had to send her a Thank You card after coming home!

The butterfly I got over there, in shop called "The Fuff-a-Torium" isn't it a wonderful name, it is mainly for felting and knitting but I snagged some of these and others like it. They may pop up in some other cards over the next few months.
The butterfly is attached to the frame by 3D foam pads. The frame is created using my nestabilities circle die cuts and cuttlebug behind the butterfly is some acetate so it looks like the butterfly is flying through the hole.
