Post Valentines Day

Now, to be honest, I really am the most un-romantic person in the world. Not into all this flowers or chocolates (well, not for Valentines day anyhow) or being taken out to dinner. Don't get me wrong, I like the above on surprise occasions or on special occasions as Birthdays or Anniversaries but Valentines day just leaves me empty.

After saying all that I did make a card for Hubby.  I stayed away from all the pink and frills after all he is a man, that would just wash over him. This is what I made him instead.

It is a masculine card, I was going to put a ribbon where the bakers twine (lol sorry just typed bailing twine but changed it, guess where I live. lol) but thought it was too girlie.  The bakers twine was given to me by my Secret Pall 2011.
The heart is embossed with a cuttlebug folder then cut out with a Woodware scalloped punch.  The paper on the lower part of the card was plain but I just stamped some random small hearts with a watermark ink pad to give it a bit of  tone-on-tone "oomph".

Recipe:
Card: Stash
Designer Paper: The Clipart Fairy - Simply Christmas paper 3 (Digital download)
Heart: Core'dinations - Super Assortments
Embossing Folder: Cuttlebug - script texture
Ink: Top Rose Watermark
Stamps: I have no idea, I have them so long. lol

Spring Time!

Today, 1st of February is also the first day of Spring.  We can now look forward to seeing young lambs frolicking around the fields and baby rabbits hopping about. Do you know, that a baby rabbit is not called bunny but kitten or kit?

Also snowdrops will be popping out of the ground followed shortly by daffodils.

It marks the start of the pastoral year where sowing and ploughing begins. But here, in our area, is not arable farming but dairy farms, so we have the added pleasure of having the surrounding fields spread with slurry, for those that do not know what slurry is, it is the waste from the sheds where the cattle are over-wintered, you can imagine the smell, is not very nice! It is spread as a natural fertilizer for the fields that have being set aside for grass.

The best thing we can look forward to is warmer drier weather, bliss, though we cannot complain about the temperatures for this past winter, it was extremely mild but very wet the exact opposite to last year where we froze our "butts" off" along with pipes and roads. lol

In pagan times, today was a festival day, "Festival of Spring" but since Christianity we celebrate St Brigid's day, (Lá le Bríde) and the coming of Spring.

Happy Sunday!

Hi all,
Yesterday was Saturday, in our house it is house work day, yuck! I normaly don't do any crafting, but I do spend an enormous amount of time on the computer blog hopping instead of house work, a much better use of my time. All agreed, good. :)

Today I am showing you a card I completed earlier this week, again it is a butterfly card.

I used the same butterfly image, downloaded from google.  This time I coloured it in blue and then clear embossed it just to give it a little shimmer.

I mounted the butterfly on a sheet of Kate Knights paper.  I embellished it with 3 flowers from Papermania capsule collection. The flowers were pre-glittered.

Mag inspiration no 2

Very exciting title! Yeah!
Hope you are all having a lovely day. We have had a day of sunshine, yeah-hoo, may still be very cold but it was dry and sunny.
I have being busy making my second magazine inspired card this week.  Well, that is what they are for, isn't it?

Lots of freebies on this one. The backing paper is a digital freebie from Sugarplum Paperie - Paper Daisies.  These are lovely papers because no matter what weight of paper you print them out on they have a lovely textured look.   The image is another freebie this time from a magazine. Don't know what mag, but the stamps are called "Fairies of the season" by Sarah Williams. She is the summer Fairy, I just needed to think SUN for a while, but doesn't she just have a carefree attitude?

I inked her up with Archival ink in black and then coloured her with pencils.  I glittered her wings with glamour dust -  love that stuff, it is very fine and great for small areas like this - though you cannot see it! I thought that there was a lot of "white" space on the top left corner so I just punched it out with a corner punch. As the backing paper has a distressed effect, I distressed the stamped image to match.
The sentiment is a papermania stamp.

Magazine inspired.

Some time ago.............well, a long time ago, I decided to go through all my crafty magazines to get inspiration and ideas. My mojo had gone on an extended holiday and I needed some help in getting it to return. And return it did, yahoo!
Here is what I finished with my returned crafty mojo.

The magazine I used for inspiration is Crafts Beautiful January 2012. It does not give a name for the fold but I would call it "accordion" fold.

This was my first time making this card and it was a little time consuming but worth it in the end.  I will certainly be making it again.

Recipe:
Card: Stash
Backing Paper: Green dotty paper - Hot Diggiety Dog by Andrea Jayne
Solid Green paper - Download from Pink Petticoat

Back to Butterflies.

For some reason I really like butterflies, it must be that they signify summer for me but I have not noticed many around in the past few years.

Here is another card featuring a Butterfly. This time it is a googled download from a children's colouring site. Don't know if this is legal but it will be going to a friend rather than being sold on.

The backing paper is a freebie I got with a magazine some time ago.  It is a Kate Knight stack. I like her papers but sometimes I just don't know how to use them as they have big prints and I am not good with big prints.
This is a close-up to show the glittery wings.  The image is coloured with chalks.

A Lesson in Irish

I was asked to make a thank you card for someone who very kindly donated to our rugby club. As we live in an Irish speaking part of the county I decided to put the sentiment in Irish.
Mile Buiochas (me'la bua'chuis) meaning a "Thousand Thanks"
The colours of the club are Red, Black and White, I layered the sentiment on black and red using Nestabilities Label 4 just to keep with the Rugby Club theme.
A nice simple card and to the point.
